a-thousand-words

This blog is about words. Pictures with writing, beautiful quotes, introspective song lyrics, clever typography or even the occasional cartoon that has made me nod in agreement, laugh or just think for a little while. A few carefully arranged words can say what 1,000 can't, and can connect people.

I collect those quotes here in a way they don't spam my main tumblr, or get lost in my likes, never to be seen again. Hopefully this way others will find and enjoy them too.

"The best moments in reading are when you come across something — a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things — that you'd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it's as if a hand has come out and taken yours." - Hector, The History Boys.

The sign of intelligence is that you are constantly wondering. Idiots are always dead sure about every damn thing they are doing in their life.

There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more.

I’ve always thought there’s a difference between a man breaking your heart and life breaking your heart and the latter always seems to find a way to break you in ways you didn’t even think you could break.

I will never be able to understand those people who read a book, watch an entire television series, or see a movie and when it’s over say that was good, continuing on with their daily lives, completely unaffected.
