a-thousand-words

Hi, I'm Hannah.
I'm 25, English, and I love words.
Welcome to my tumblr.

an introduction

This blog is about words.
Expect to find beautiful quotes, introspective song lyrics, clever typography, picture quotes, and even the occasional cartoon that has made me nod in agreement, laugh or just think for a little while. A few carefully arranged words can say what 1,000 can't, and can connect people.

I started collect those quotes here so they wouldn't spam my original tumblr , or get lost in my likes, never to be seen again. Hopefully this way others will find and enjoy them too.

This is not a spoiler free blog. You'll find I am a fan of many things, and that filters through here.

(Please note most posts are queued. The twitter updates it's self.)

"The best moments in reading are when you come across something — a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things — that you'd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it's as if a hand has come out and taken yours." - Hector, The History Boys.

“hey there! Just sayin, I prefer your previous theme a lot better because it's very easy to read and catchy with all your inspiring and constructive quotes”

You’re not the only one, I think a few people liked the old one better too. :)

The advantage of the new theme is that the font allows punctuation, which used to really annoy me. If you’re having difficulty with the change of font I can try to change it? (I’m rubbish at html, but if people are finding it hard to read I can see what I can do?) Let me know! Glad you like the content though, the good thing is that’s staying the same! xx

“Why do you change the layout? The old one was such more beautiful, but your posts are still wonderful. =)”

    Thanks :)

I just felt like after five years I was due a change.

This one looks more modern & professional, I hated the full page block of text at the top of my last layout in the end, it was so clunky. This one is more versatile; I can easily like to other pages (goodreads/twitter/tags I want to highlight ect). Plus it’s more user friendly; you can reblog from the main page without having to open up each post in a new window. and you can see my tags when scrolling through. Also the search bar on the old one didn’t work properly. In short there are loads of things I like about it, I do miss the nice script on the last one though. Sorry you don’t like it as much, but I hope it grows on you!

"It’s still there, you know? All the love, it’s still right there underneath my ribs, begging you to pull them back one by one & crawl inside. "

"What I know is this: our hearts are stubborn creatures. They always remember how to push a splinter out like a foreign enemy from the body. They want to heal. Even if we didn’t know there was an injury. Even if we loved that splinter like a limb. "
