a-thousand-wordsHi, I'm Hannah.

I'm 25, English, and I love words.

Welcome to my tumblr.

an introduction

This blog is about words.
Expect to find beautiful quotes, introspective song lyrics, clever typography, picture quotes, and even the occasional cartoon that has made me nod in agreement, laugh or just think for a little while. A few carefully arranged words can say what 1,000 can't, and can connect people.

I started collect those quotes here so they wouldn't spam my original tumblr , or get lost in my likes, never to be seen again. Hopefully this way others will find and enjoy them too.

This is not a spoiler free blog. You'll find I am a fan of many things, and that filters through here.

(Please note most posts are queued. The twitter updates it's self.)

"The best moments in reading are when you come across something — a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things — that you'd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it's as if a hand has come out and taken yours." - Hector, The History Boys.

"When your day is long
and the night,
the night is yours alone,
when you’re sure you’ve had enough
of this life,
well hang on.
Don’t let yourself go,
‘cause everybody cries,
and everybody hurts
sometimes. "

"Opinions are like orgasms… mine matters most and I really don’t care if you have one. "

"You should be angry. You must not be bitter. Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. It doesn’t do anything to the object of its displeasure. So use that anger. You write it. You paint it. You dance it. You march it. You vote it. You do everything about it. You talk it. Never stop talking it. "

Maya Angelou in a 2006 talk with Dave Chappelle on the Sundance Channel’s Iconoclasts series.

"Fate never promises to tell you everything up front. You aren’t always shown the path in life you’re supposed to take. But if there was one thing she’d learned in the past few weeks, it was that sometimes, when you’re really lucky, you meet someone with a map. "
